If you came here looking for sheer heaviness and riff worship, bad news. There’s not a lot of that in this podcast (don’t let the presence of Triptykon fool you). Things get rather dark throughout these 19 tracks, but I wouldn’t say heavy. Although some might disagree. I guess it all depends on what you define as “heavy”.
This mix has been in the works for quite some time. When it was originally started I was going through a bit of a post punk stage. Largely in part to discovering The Unnatural World by Have a Nice Life. As you will see there are a few songs scattered throughout that fit comfortably with that style, but quite a few of them wander rather far from that template as well. Which always tends to happen each time I make a new podcast. Usually there’s some common theme or genre that kicks things off and then things go where they want from there. Which explains how bands like Oranssi Pazuzu and SubRosa get invited to a post punk party.
For those of you whose tastes do lean more twords the heavier side of things, you should have a listen anyway. If you pass on this one, then you’re going to miss out on a lot of great music. But if it’s still not your thing, check out the archives. I’m sure that will fill your riff quota.
